The ACMS Experience
The Artaria Chamber Music School, created in 2002, is regarded as one of the nation’s premiere chamber music programs for advanced string players through grade twelve. Members of the highly respected Artaria String Quartet serve as founders, directors, and primary coaches on the hill in St. Paul.
At the core of ACMS are weekly chamber music coachings with a member of the Artaria String Quartet. These sessions comprise advanced study and preparation of Classical, Romantic/Nationalist, and Modern Era masterpieces. The focus is on individual responsibility to the musical and technical integrity of each piece, positive group dynamics, and effective communication.
Annual Masterclasses with visiting international musicians, including the Takács, Pacifica, Miró, Borromeo, Parker, and St. Lawrence String Quartets, and distinguished members of the Guarneri Quartet, serve as additional inspiration for aspiring chamber musicians.
Multiple performance events are provided each year as well as opportunities to compete regionally and nationally. ACMS prizewinning quartets have been invited to appear on Minnesota Public Radio and “From the Top”.
